Yukon Nominee Program 2025: Invitation to apply begins

On May 24, 2025, the Yukon government officially began sending out invitations to apply under the Yukon Provincial Nominee Program (YNP) for the year 2025. This marks a significant step forward in the territory's economic immigration process, designed to meet the needs of the local labour market.
Unlike previous years, when the first-come, first-served principle was applied, the government is now focusing on a strategic approach centered on the territory's economic priorities for 2025. This approach aims to better support employers and foreign nationals who actively contribute to Yukon's economy and society.
Targeted invitations: Selection based on well-defined priorities
Invitations are sent only to selected employers who submitted an expression of interest during the opening period, which ran from March 31 to April 22, 2025. These employers will receive an official e-mail with detailed instructions for submitting a full application.
In parallel, two other types of notification are also sent:
- Employers not selected, but added to the random selection pool, ensuring a future chance if vacancies arise.
- To employers or individuals deemed unacceptable, with explanations of the reasons for refusal.
Number of applications exceeds appointment capacity
Yukon received a total of 502 eligible submissions during the expression of interest period. However, only 215 candidates can be officially nominated by the territory in 2025, under federal immigration agreements.
Of these 502 applications, 392 were aligned with the priorities set for 2025, reflecting a strong match between the needs of the region and the aspirations of local employers and foreign workers.
What are the Yukon's priorities in 2025?
For the year 2025, priority sectors have been defined through ongoing consultations with Yukon's industrial organizations and business community. The following applications have been prioritized:
- Foreign nationals who have lived and worked in the Yukon for at least one year
- Yukon University graduates
- French-speaking candidates
- Holders of a letter of support linked to a temporary measure
This approach allows the government to select the candidates most likely to respond to specific needs. real economic needswhile supporting workers already integrated into Yukon society.
Random selection of the remaining qualified files
Once priority applications have been processed, the government will make a random selection from the remaining eligible applicants. This method is designed to ensure fairness and transparency in a context where demand far exceeds processing capacity.
The central role of employers in the process
The Yukon Provincial Nominee Program relies on the active participation of local employers, who identify labour needs and submit applications to fill vacancies. These employers must demonstrate that the position offered cannot be filled locally, and that the foreign candidate is capable of long-term integration.
The voice of Yukon's business community
The Yukon government says it continues to work closely with industry organizations to adapt immigration priorities to changing labour market realities. This collaboration ensures that the CYP remains a strategic tool for fostering the territory's economic growth, while respecting its capacity to receive immigrants.
