- No criminal record or other immigration-related security concerns
- Have the necessary funds to cover all trip expenses
- Have a strong link with the country of origin and demonstrate the intention to return there at the end of the stay.
To enter Canada as a visitor, you need a temporary resident visa. Some countries are exempt from visa requirements. Their nationals must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before flying to or transiting through Canada.
Some people may be refused entry to Canada by border officials. If the reason for their visit to Canada is compelling, they may be granted a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP). Parents and grandparents can obtain a SUPER VISA to visit their children and grandchildren in Canada. The special feature of this visa is that it is valid for up to 10 years, and allows multiple entries. It allows visits of up to two years for each entry.
