On February 20, 2025, Prince Edward Island held a new draw under its Expression of Interest (EOI) system. A total of 87 invitations were sent to qualified applicants in the Labour and Express Entry streams.
Priority was given to workers who had been in the province for at least one year, as well as international graduates of local post-secondary institutions, including the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Holland College and Collège de l'Île.
Selection criteria: a strategic approach
Prince Edward Island's EOI system evaluates candidates according to several key criteria:
- Language skills: fluency in English and/or French;
- Level of education: field and place of graduation;
- Work experience and skills: priority sectors and length of experience;
- Strategic priorities: responding to immediate labor market needs;
- Other factors: job opportunities in the province and Canadian work experience.
These criteria ensure that the selection process is aligned with the province's economic and demographic needs, thereby promoting sustainable immigration that benefits Prince Edward Island.
