The chance is now open for thousands of potential sponsors in Canada! The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) announces the mailing of 24,200 invitations to people who have expressed an interest in sponsoring their parents or grandparents for permanent residency in Canada. Between October 10 and 24, 2023, these invitations will be sent by e-mail, offering a valuable opportunity to initiate a future where families can be reunited under the same Canadian sky.

2023 application process

The 2023 PGP application process is essentially a lifeline for those who submitted the "Interest in Sponsorship" form in 2020 and were selected to submit a full application. The ultimate goal is to accept up to 15,000 complete applications, strengthening the family foundations of many permanent residents in Canada.

The application process requires the submission of two separate applications: the sponsorship application and the application for permanent residence. Once approved, an "undertaking" is signed, sealing the path to a shared future in Canada for the sponsor and sponsored family members.

How do I proceed once I've received the invitation?

For potential sponsors who receive an invitation, the next act is to electronically submit their PGP application through the Permanent Residency portal or the Permanent Residency portal of their authorized representative, before the deadline specified in the invitation.

For those who had submitted an interest form in 2020 but did not receive an invitation during the 2020, 2021 or 2022 admission periods, extra vigilance is recommended to monitor their e-mail, including spam and junk mail folders, during the invitation period.

What should I do if I lose my confirmation or change my e-mail address?

After all invitations have been sent, participants will be able to retrieve a lost confirmation number or provide a new e-mail address if they no longer have access to the e-mail address originally used to submit their Interest to Sponsor form.
