The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NWNP) will reopen its doors to new immigration applications on January 16, 2025, at 9 a.m. Mountain Time. Applicants will be able to submit their applications online via the dedicated portal on the program's official website. Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received, and any incomplete applications will be rejected.
Quotas and distribution of applications
For this new intake period, the Government of the Northwest Territories has set a ceiling of 100 new complete applications, broken down as follows:
- Francophone stream : 10 applications will be accepted.
- Employer-Driven stream :
- 45 applications for entry-level or semi-skilled jobs.
- 45 applications for the Skilled Worker and NWT Express Entry categories combined.
This distribution is intended to ensure that employers have access to a diversity of skills that meet the specific needs of the Northwest Territories labour market. Please note that if a category reaches its quota of nominations, the receipt of applications for that category will be suspended until further notice.
Growth in appointments over the years
The NWTCP has seen a significant increase in the number of nominations in recent years. Numbers have risen from 77 in 2020 to over 300 in 2024, reflecting a growing interest in the Northwest Territories as a preferred destination for skilled workers and entrepreneurs.
Federal allocations pending
Application allocations are determined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). To date, the allocation for 2025 has not yet been confirmed. Pending confirmation, the CNWTP is provisionally accepting 100 new applications. Once the federal allocation has been received, a new submission period may be opened later in the year.
Candidate preparation
The authorities encourage potential applicants to consult the program guidelines and checklist available on the official website, and to start gathering the necessary documents in anticipation of the reopening. If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Territorial Immigration directly.
