Three new rounds of invitations for various categories of immigrants took place this week. As a key tool for the country's immigration policy, Express Entry has made significant progress this year, continuing to open up new opportunities for people wishing to make Canada their new home.

Drawing #261 : Specialized trades targeted for the first time in 2023

The #261 draw on August 03, 2023 has been specifically designed for Skilled Trades. This draw, which sent out 1,500 invitations, is the first of its kind in 2023, marking an important milestone for candidates with specialized skills. The programs included in this draw were Federal Skilled Worker Programthe Canadian Experience Class and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Candidates had to have a minimum score of 388 to be considered. In the case of equal scores, the tie-breaking rule was applied. Candidates who submitted their profile before June 7, 2023 at 07:03:08 UTC were given preference.

Drawing #260 : Priority to French language skills

The #260 draw on August 02, 2023 focused on candidates with French language skills. This round sent out 800 invitations to candidates who demonstrated an outstanding command of the French language. The minimum score required for this category was 435 points.

As with the previous draw, the tie-breaking rule was applied. Candidates who submitted their profile before July 31, 2023 at 09:57:30 UTC were given preference.

Issue #259 : Several targeted programs

The first round of invitations of the week, the #259 draw on August 01, 2023, was a broader initiative that sent out 2,000 invitations to candidates from various programs. These included the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Provincial Nominee Program. Applicants had to have a minimum score of 517 to be considered.

The tie-breaking rule was used again, giving priority to candidates who submitted their profile before June 30, 2023 at 11:45:05 UTC.
