What is an Invitation to Apply (ITA)?

An Invitation to Apply (ITA) is an official invitation issued by the Government of Canada to applicants who have applied to immigrate to Canada through the Express Entry system. The Invitation to Apply is sent to applicants who have obtained a sufficiently high score in the Express Entry (CRS) pool to be eligible to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Receipt of a PDI means that the applicant has met the eligibility requirements and has been selected to apply for permanent residence. Applicants who receive a PDI have a limited period of time in which to submit a complete application for permanent residence, including supporting documents and fees.

Documents required for the Invitation to Apply (ITA)

An applicant must provide certain documents to IRCC when submitting an application after receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA). These documents support the qualifications and other information declared in the applicant's Express Entry profile, and provide proof that the applicant is not inadmissible to Canada.
